Citrus County Festival of the Arts

It's definately Fall in Citrus County and this weekend was packed with lots of fun things to do.    I've chosen to experience the second the 38th annual Festival of the Arts and the second annual Stonecrab Jamboree.

So come on along and enjoy another Citrus County Experience with me.

The Festival of the arts which attracts over 10,000 people is the longest running festival in the community.  Picturesque Courthouse Square with is 1912 brick courthouse was transformed this weekend into an art lovers paradise for the 38th annual festival. Artists and crafters display a variety of wares, from sculptures to handmade furniture, photos and paintings. Students displayed their artwork both Saturday and Sunday. This juried show includes art in a variety of media including oils, acrylics, watercolor, graphics, photography, sculpture, pottery and glass. Vendors always have a variety of treats for sale in the food court so after your eyes have feasted, your taste buds can, too.

Stroll down the main street of historic downtown Inverness and along the lawns of The old Courthouse to view the many art venues on display.   The Festival of the Arts is an experience for not just art appreciation but for greeting neighbors and friends and admiring the hometown charm 0f this quaint community.

The restaurants and shops of the downtown area are open during the festival and offer a variety

of festive foods and gifts.

The city of Inverness recognizes the arts as an important part of our community and welcomes many talented artists and exhibitors to the area.

I noticed some exciting changes in this years show from the updated School Zone which features the work of talented Citrus High School art students to a drawing with proceeds going to one or more scholarships for area students to pursue higher education in the arts the chance to win.

This festival is always the first weekend in November so be sure to make your reservations early at  Jan's Highland Guesthouse.
