TRAIL RIDING AT LADY HAWK FARM

Located just 10 miles from Jan's Highland Guest House is a wonderful trail riding farm with thousands of trails to ride on a horse that is matched specifically to your riding style and expertise. Lady Hawk Farm has one goal in mind and that is to assure that your riding experience is one to remember for years to come.  This peaceful, quiet natural setting in the Withlacoochee State Forest will take you away from the stress of life and create a relaxing and fun adventure revolving around horses.  This is not a "nose to tail, walk in line" trail ride.  This is simply the best place to go horseback riding in Florida. The farm is immediately adjacent to over 42,000 acres of prime, hilly, wooded, sandy horse trails.  Deer, rabbit, turkey tortoise, innumerable birds and other species are abundant.

Lady Hawk is the perfect location for a very special Florida equestrian adventure especially when it's too cold everywhere else.  During the peak season, from November to May, mornings are cool (50 degrees) while the days are warm and comfortable (70 degrees).  During the summer season the temperature rarely tops 96 degrees with the forest being 15 to 20 degrees cooler.

Whether you ride every day or are a little rusty, a highly trained instructor observes both horse and rider.  She can help experienced riders improve their skills, while riding trails and enjoying nature at its best.  Whether a beginner or ride upper level dressage, jump, race around barrels or chase cows, you will feel at home at Lady Hawk Farm.

You can tell that Susanne takes pride in her farm, horses and equipment.  She owns the horses and most of them have been with her for many years.  She is a certified instructor with over 25 years of experience and she accompanies all riders on the trail. She is a very capable instructor with a long list of international credentials.  If you wish to obtain  more specific training, either beginner or advanced lessons can

be arranged for you on an individual basis.  Experienced riders are given every

opportunity to ride at their own level of expertise ie walk, trot and canter as the terrain allows.  She knows the horses and the trails that will best suit your ability and will take you where you will have the best chance to see wildlife and enjoy the natural beauty of the Withlacoochee State Forest.  Your safety and comfort, as well as the well being of the horse is her prime concern.

Each one of these horses has its own personality; its own set of likes and dislikes, however, all are well trained and well mannered. You may experience a herd of deer suddenly appearing and running across your path.  You'll have to go up and down into steep gullies.  Occasionally you may have to cross water.  You will have an opportunity to form a relationship with your horse that makes the horse feel safe under your control. Natural horsemanship is practiced at Lady Hawk Farm building trust and respect between horse and rider.

Susanne is a horsewoman.  She has lived with horses since she was five years old.  She was classically trained in Germany and is teaching the principles of exceptionally qualified and well known trainers.  She has successfully participated in many nationally and internationally sanctioned events including jumping and dressage.  She has also participated in long distance competitive trail riding events.

Susanne  has achieved an understanding of what horses can do and why they do it.  She is an experienced trainer of all breeds.  Her goal is to educate horses to be willing partners, whether it be jumping, dressage or pleasure riding.  Sue operated a large riding and training academy before moving to Florida.

The British Horse Society has certified Susanne as a Level II instructor.  She has over twenty years of teaching and training experience.  Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, you will find Susanne to be a very knowledgeable and perceptive observer.  She is an extraordinary teacher with impeccable credentials.  You'll soon discover that riding at Lady Hawk Farm is much more than another trail ride.  the riding will be relaxed and informative while being exciting and fun.
