Another jam packed week end in Citrus County. This week end I've chosen to experience two very popular events in Citrus County; The Blues Festival and the Homosassa Arts, Crafts & Seafood Festival. Both take place in historical Old Homosassa.
A tuneful tradition that’s always in good taste is the 14th annual Blues ‘n’ Bar-B-Que, hosted by Nature Coast Friends of Blues. This event from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Museum Café, 10466 W. Yulee Drive, Homosassa. One of the things I enjoy most at this event has been to watch people meet and form friendships as they listen to the blues.

Freight Train Annie, a Tampa-based group that performs regularly in Ybor City and at Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa hit the stage around 3pm and had every one on thier feet.
Her stage presence is remarkable and they always give us a very powerful set of music.
Cool Corporate Cats was there too so there was plenty of music on hand to entertain everyone for the whole day.
Barbecue meals are for sale. Prices are: $9 for ribs; $8 for chicken and $7 for pulled pork. The price for all meals includes sides. Beverages including beer and wine are also for sale.
Those attending the event are asked to bring small items that can be used in a children’s scavenger event from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Proceeds from a silent auction will also benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs. Tickets are $20 at the gate or $15 for those who bring non-perishable food items for Citrus County Harvest. The first 300 people to through the gate receive a goody bag with promotional items from concert sponsors.
So bring your chair and stake your claim to the best blues in town. No pets, no coolers please.
Remember to keep this annual event in mind when planning your Citrus County experience in November. Reservations at Jans Highland Guesthouse can be made at
