THE TASTE OF INVERNESS

Another annual summer event in Citrus County is the "Taste of Inverness."  This  year's theme was "Main Course on Main Street.  It's a night of food and wine sampling, artwork and music.  Started in
2006 with the opening of the Inverness Government Center, the Taste of Inverness has returned as a stand alone event, featuring local restaurants serving up everything from Cubans and pasta to ice cream and pizza.

More than 500 people attend this fundraiser for the Covenant children's Home, enjoying food, bidding on silent auction items and listening to the performers on stage.

Eleven local restaurants presented a sampling of their best foods at this "elegant affair of arts, music, food and wine under the stars."

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at various businesses around the County or the night of the event.  There are winners in various categories of best appetizer, best entree, best dessert and best presentation.

Restaurants are set  up in one tent outside the Inverness Government Center and wine tasting is in another tent.  Live music performs on a stage in the food tent where seats are set up for relaxing, eating and listening.

With an art show and swing and jazz style music,m there is a "sophisticated kind of '20's and '30's vibe.

The silent auction and car show is in progress throughout the evening.

When planning your visit to Citrus County this summer, be sure to check on the dates and times for the Taste of Inverness and enjoy one of our most popular annual summer events.
